They are not huge but have very crisp edges and will shred. The road around Catavina is no picnic either, so slow down a little and enjoy the day

BPE and tecate
Just arrived US from Los B. Road construction north of La Paz, Mucho dusty. Still working on Hwy 3 to Tecate; looks like they're punching in a bypass to bypass the switchbacks on the last hump before dropping in to Tecate. No problems in San Quintin Valley. Talked to some state cops in the motel in Colonet. They said the protesters were all from (imported) Oaxaca; no locals involved. Military guarding electrical substations; lot of cops on the road.
Motorcycle cop in Tecate is still at his evil deeds. He got me for stopping in the "middle" of the intersection east of McDonald's, where the two roads come in to the main road to the border turnoff in kind of a "<". There is a stop sign there, but no crosswalks or lines denoting exactly where the intersection is. He is very polite and speaks excellent English. His newest scare tactic is carrying knives in the cab, which you have "quick" access to, including pocket knives (mine is a little guy with a 2" blade). He claims this is an arrestable offense; ALL knives must be locked up or be put in the trunk. I don't believe this. Can anybody verify this? Also, does anybody have, or know someone who has, any influence in/with the Baja Norte Government?? Somebody needs to stop this guy. Unsigned.
it is accurate you can not have any knives, not sure of the size.

road reports
just drove the baja road south3/22, road was great, almost all the construction just south of Ensenada is finished, they were putting in a second layer in just a few last portions when I drove it, there was no stop and no off road excursions. As you get closer to Guerrero Negro there was only a 200 yard brief construction that you had to get off the road, it was well marked and not bad on a scale for trailers or RVs. In Santa Rosalia the downtown is about to be repaved but you are going slow there anyway. Just south of Santa Rosalia is still under construction with a flagman by the new strip mine. They are building a jetty apparently for off loading whatever that new surface mine is producing.
