Hola amigos,
Unfortunately, the overpopulation of this beautiful city of La Paz is getting out of control and every day the scarcity of water increases, therefore it is the responsibility of all of us to take recycling and saving measures to avoid wasting water, that is why I would like to share with you some of my everyday methods and ask everyone to share in the comments your own ideas of reusing and saving the vital liquid.
Clothes washing machines consume around 200 liters of water in each wash cycle. I use a large plastic container with a lid to store the water from the washing machine to water my plants, wash my patios, flush the toilet and even wash my car.
I try to check all my pipes, joints, faucets, tinaco and cistern for leaks or cracks. It is unbeliable how much water can be waste little by little, if there are some I fix them asap.
When I wash my dishes, first I soap them all and then I rinse them at the same time, in this way the water pre-rinses the ones below.
I place the disposable plastic or foam plates that I find lying on the streets under the flower pots so that the water continues to be reabsorbed by the plant when I water them.
I mix the absorbent gel from the diapers in the soil of the plants to conserve moisture and thus water them once a week instead of three.
I don't throw the water out of the cooking pots when I cook vegetables, I eat it as soup or give it to my dogs "they love it" or use it to water my plants.
When I take a shower I place a bucket on the floor and use the collected water to flush the toilet.
When winter comes and the shower water is already very cold, I turn on my water heater and put a bucket on the floor so that the cold water that comes out first can be reused.
When it "comes to rain" I collect the water from the patios and store it in a big lided plastic container to avoid the creation of mosquitoes and with that I water my plants in the following days.
Thanks for reading.
