I had a medical emergency the other day and the medical people tried to call the 800 number listed on my medical card to assure medical coverage . They could not get through and as a consequence I had to pay around $300 for the treatment.
The Supplemental Medicare Coverage will not reimburse this charge once you pay it. Hope this helps a few people in the future.

cost of a toll free call to the USA.
Just a note, your charge for calling a toll free number in the USA is for example last month a 16 minute call was 96 pesos plus tax. I remember the month before I was on a few calls and one long one and got the sticker shock. So kept this one short. I had additional free minutes to the USA to use so it is the toll free access.

As far as I remember I made a customer support call a few weeks ago to an
855 number and I dialed 001-884-XXXXXXX (884 stands instead of 885). I hope this helps Tom

Anyone who is having speed issues with their internet connection should call Telmex at 01-800-123-2222, Option 1, then ask for ‘habla Ingles’.
I called last Thursday, they tried to come out on Friday but couldn’t find us, showed up this morning (Monday) and gave us a new modem. Can’t believe the difference:
Download speed test before new modem: .21 Mps (that is less than 1/4 of a MB)
Download speed tests after new modem: 1.68 & 2.22 Mps

how to pay your telmex phone bill from USA online
to pay your telmex bill online go to this site and sign up.... and now they even email you when you have your new bill.
http://www.telmexusa.com/USA_ing/payin.asp
http://www.telmexusa.com/USA_ing/payin.asp
Now you can pay your Mexican phone bill from USA or Canada by posting your payment through TELMEX USA. Your payment is applied to your account at a very attractive Peso-Dollar exchange rate and there is no subscription nor monthly rent fee.
However, there is a $2.00 dlls commission charged per payment. This commission will be automatically deducted of your payment (Commission fee does not apply for payments equal/over $100.00 dlls. if it is to be applied to a single phone account)
1. To register call us at 1-800-365-8808 Monday through Saturday, from 7 am to 7 pm PST.
2. Provide us with the following information:
* Your telephone number in Mexico including area code (Lada)
* Name, address and telephone number
3. You will be provided with a customer number. You can then use it to make payments toward your TELMEX telephone bill in Mexico.
4. We also offer several convenient payment options.

USA ATT go phone plan
USA cell phone pay as you go: I just purchased an att "go phone" pay as you go cell phone, with a US plan of $2.00 a day for unlimited calls. and was able to call mexico with it for $0.26 cents a minute while in the USA..
Now I tested it today in Mexico (roaming) and was able to call here in mexico for $0.26 cents a minute. and received a call for $0.26 cents a minute. Looked at the online bill and they did not charge me the $2.00 for the daily use just the above per minute fee.
so this is a very good deal for those of us who do not live on our cell phones and do go up to the USA for trips.
I bought the this phone for $20.00 and it had $30.00 of credit. and only pay the $2.00 a day for unlimited USA calls when I actually use the phone. it is active for 3 months and then i have to add credit. If I add $100.00 of credit it is active for 1 year.

add minutes to your telcel cell phone from the internet
keep your phone active fron USA or Canada, anywhere in the world by adding minutes every 2 months.
from the instructions I posted it infers. Add $10.00 every 2 months and your minutes will acrue. If you add $10.00 every 4 months your phone will stay active, but you lose the minutes.
