Elice Simonis-Tucker This is the easiest, most direct way. Make sure to go after 10 am as the TJ police sometimes block off the entrances to the speedway rd. (Depending on traffic back ups) Then you have to go around and past CFE to get to the end of the line

here are flawless directions to Otay Ready Lane:

Proceed north on the toll road from Ensenada.

Exit toll road at the Blvd/Corridor 2000 exit.

Proceed approximately 26 miles on Blvd 2000.

Follow the signs for Garita Otay/Tijuana/San Diego/Tecate/Mexicali
You will pass from a rural area to an urban area. Be aware of cross traffic and pedestrians. You will also pass a Commercial Mexicana on your right and a Home Depot on your left…….when you pass the Calimax on your right, move into the right lane.

At about the 26 mile mark, there will be a sign indicating a ramp to your right for Tijuana/San Diego/I-905 (highway). Take this ramp which will put you on Industrial Blvd (or also signed as Mex 2)………if you go straight, you will end up on the toll road to Tecate.

Follow Industrial Blvd west for approximately 5 miles.
You will pass under a “Panasonic” footbridge, and go up and over the business district overpass.

There will be a McDonalds on your right.
Just past the McDonalds you will come to a stoplight controlled intersection (Garita de Otay) with a tire shop to your right. This is the signed turn for the regular lanes.
Ready Lanes
Continue on Industrial Blvd (Mex 2), past the “regular” crossing and you will see a Carl’s Jr hamburgers on your right.

On Industrial Blvd., as you pass the Carl’s Jr get into the far right lane. Follow that lane as it curves to the right. That will put you on the road to the TJ airport (Via de la Juventud Ote).

The first main street street intersection to your right is Ave Alejandro Von Humboldt – This should be (was) signed as ‘Ready Lane”

Directions from Club Marena condos South of Rosarito

Go north on free road toward Rosarito to just past the guard/militia check point and turn right on Blvd 2000--Large statue in the middle at the beginning of the road. (sign says Tijuana and Tecate)

Take Blvd 2000 (nice 4-lane road) for about 35-40 km into Tijuana. You will pass several large intersections so you want to stay with the road that says Tecate/Tijuana until you get to a large intersection that says:

Tijuana/San Diego/California 905--this off ramp will go to the right and you go under Blvd 2000 towards the west into Tijuana. This street is called Blvd. Industrial.

You take Blvd. Industrial for about 5-10 km. and pass a large art sculpture in the middle of the divided road. After that there is a nice Pemex gas station on the right that has nice restrooms and good gas prices.

Continue on Blvd Industrial. You will come to and go past an intersection for De Las Bellas Artes. Then you will go over a large bridge and the next really big interestion has a sign for Garita de Otay--DON'T take it unless you want to go to the regular border crossing.

Pas the intersection for Garita de Otay/Los Aztecas (same road) and then you will see a large public park on your right.

At the first street past the large park there is an intersection for "Instituto Politecnico National" with a traffic light. Turn right here and go up to the next right "Alejandro Humboldt" and turn right again. There are two lanes on the left going east and if you stay in either lane you will automatically feed into the Ready Lane for the Otay Crossing.

We went on a Saturday Morning (Thanksgiving weekend) and it was crowded. When we turned right onto onto "Instituto Politecnico National" therre was no problem until we tried to turn right onto "Alejandro Humboldt" where there was a policeman blocking traffic so you could not make that right turn. He made us go to the left down "Alejandro Humboldt" to the next intersection and do a U-turn back onto "Alejandro Humboldt" going east again.

So, effectively you could take Blvd. Industrial to street "Via de La Juventude Ote" (the street where we made the u-turn) and turn right and go to up to "Alejandro Humboldt" and proceed east to the ready lane. We weren't sure if it was just extra busy that day so the policeman was diverting traffic. Either way will get you to the Ready Lane very easily.

On Saturday morning over Thanksgiving Weekend we hit the Ready Lane at 9:00 and were crossed by 10:00.

New Faster Border Crossing Lane Open in Otay Mesa - the Ready Lane

Border crossers now have a new faster border crossing option! A new northbound lane, called the Ready Lane, has been opened with the goal of reducing wait times returning to the U.S. from Mexico. Ready Lanes are already open in Arizona and Texas, but the first California Ready Lane officially opened on May 2nd, 2011 at the Otay Mesa border crossing. All border crossers who use the lane must have an RFID compliant card such as a passport card, SENTRI card, or other card with an RFID chip (Radio Frequency Identification). All passengers in the vehicle must have RFID compliant cards in order to use the lane except those under 16 years of age.

We tested this lane twice and found the Ready Lane to be much faster than the regular border lane. It took us about 25 minutes to cross on a Friday morning and 20 minutes on a Tuesday morning, both times during rush hour. The lane consistently moved faster than the regular lanes. When we crossed both times, the one dedicated Ready Lane opened up to 3 booths!

What cards can be used in the Ready Lane?
The following cards may be used in the lane as long as they are RFID compliant:

U.S. Passport card (NO passport books allowed)
SENTRI card, FAST and NEXUS
Enhanced drivers license (EDL) - States available: MI, NY, VT, WA
Enhanced Tribal Card (ETC)
Enhanced Permanent Resident card (EPR)
Border Crossing Card (BCC)
Important: RFID passports are NOT eligible in this lane unfortunately.

Why can't I use my RFID passport in the Ready Lane?
The card reader technology used at the border does not read passports.

Border Fast Track Pass - August 2010 Update
The Fast Track lane is still working great and that means considerably shorter wait times! We have heard that the wait is about 25-30 minutes - YAY!
