The Cactus Sanctuary is easy to get to and quite worth the effort. There are no cliffs before you get to El Triunfo and the Cactus Sanctuary is before El Triunfo on that highway. It is a bit of a washboard road to the little village of El Rosario but quite doable. You are not likely to see anyone on the way but an occasional pick up truck and a few cows. The countryside is very tranquil and quite safe. Turn left just before the cementary and you will see a palapa gate to the sanctuary. The guide is a very charming man. The road to Todos Santos is a smooth four lane higway with no cliffs. Another trip worth the effort!
Turn off Mex 1 at 23° 46.897'N 110° 8.127'W Follow well
traveled road 5.7km to Cactus Sanctuary (23° 44.738'N 110°
6.753'W) and old graveyard. When your finished continue another 400
meters into pueblo for a soda and snack.
One trip your husband would not even want to consider: (turn off at

San Fran de La Sierra road 37 km to settlement and cave paintings. I
would have preferred to have been
driving, with the guide in my back of Surburban seat, in several
sections and I enjoy exploration.
I visited the sanctuary recently. It is as easy drive and not mountainous.
There is a dirt road off the main road that goes to El Triunfo. The sign is
easy to miss, but it will be on your right hand side just before El
Triunfo. Try not to go on a hot day. Todos Santos is no problem. Great
road all the way and cooler there.
