$200.00 has cellular built in, not sure if it will work in mexico. also has land line notification. but not sure if it is programmable to call any number you want.
they mention international cellular monitoring for an additional $5.00 a month.
what I like is the simplicity and how additional sensors are only $15.00

on sale unit
http://www.1800doorbell.com/db800-skylink-security-systems.htm
a sale on a unit. this unit is great to just have on at all times when you are here. so you do not hook up the motion detector when you are here in baja. that way you connect the window sensors to your computer and other valuable items like tv, microwave, safe. you never turn it off so if you go for dinner, a walk on the beach the thief will enter and grab an item and the alarm will go off and they have to exit quickly. A system like this (mine was not as good) saved my safe from being stolen several years ago. No theft attempt since then. this system is on sale for $110.00 When you leave baja set up a battery backup system and hook up the motion detector for better security. the higher end one calls out also.
http://www.1800doorbell.com/db800-skylink-security-systems-accessories.htm
at this link you can buy more wired contact sensors to protect more items in the room at $8.00 each like for printer, router and so on, for additional rooms buy more wireless window sensors at $21.00 each.
what I do is attach the sensor to the monitor, computer, safe and so on; so that if removed it sets off the alarm. again on at all times, never turned off. they tried to seal my safe and had pried it up when the alarm was triggered, once the alarm was triggered they just ran taking nothing.

Video Surveillance Made Easy With a PC
http://www.pcworld.com/article/147985/video_surveillance_made_easy_with_a_pc.html
The basic WiLife service lets you tap into the surveillance video streams over the Internet with any connected notebook, PDA or smart phone that has Windows Media Player software loaded. It worked well with a Windows Mobile phone and a notebook, but it could only display one camera at a time, and the video is limited to 320 by 240 pixels. Still, it's good enough for anxious homeowners on vacation or small business managers worried about office break-ins.
The system is capable of constant video recording, but you can also set a trigger that initiates recording only when the scene in the room changes, such as when a thief enters and removes the TV or (unfortunately) when your dog walks by. It's easy to adjust the video trigger, and the system can e-mail you a text alert or a photo or video of the action.

Re: sources for alarms equiptment
Starting at $100.00 here is the best 12vdc system I have seen paging about half a mile. with audible horn. It is designed for cars but with a 12 VDC marine battery it will defeat those who will cut your power. the battery will last my guess about 2-3 months without power. And easily set up to page when you do not have power. Just have a 110vAC relay hooked up to your power that is normally closed. I can help you with this.
This is no contract, and can be hooked up to a phone dialer too..
There are various detectors, motion, door glass, and so on that can be hooked up.
http://www.carmobileaudiovideo.com/product/DBCS_2205ADVTW1/Deluxe_2Way_LED_Paging_Security_System.html
details listed at http://crimestopper.com/
If you just want to protect certain items and can run a wire to each and can do doors and windows, as long as wired, here is a low cost one, you will need a marine battery (but could use a car battery) and trickle/float charger. $38.00 for the alarm with horn. You could easily install it in one room like a closet and have wires to the computer and asociated in the room.

Re: sources for alarms equiptment
this one seems to be about the best to date, has interface to camera and at $5.00 a month they store the camera data. so if your house is broken in they store the pictures.

I also take one door off my refridgerators and microwaves and put those in storage elsewhere when I leave for the season. easy to do and makes them worthless to a theif.
off the subject is to cover your sinks, shower drains and suran wrap your toilets so if they dry out the bugs living in the septic system do not invade.

sources for alarms equiptment
some have low cost mechanical door locks with a code for $100.00 I have been using one for 9 years now. also has electronic latch, I have just replaced one that lasted 8 years. many options.
here is the best catalog. many options including lectronic keypad for about $50.00, electronic door lock,
this one is very good for later catching... the $140 swann pir camera is ideal for the home, it works via motion detector and records to a memory stick only when there is motion. part number. 82-12100 has self contained power. If home is broken into just download the images like you do with a camera. So you would put this in your main entrance or where there are expensive items that are quick grab.

this one is great but tooo expensive. has high power cellular built in (though probably will not work in mexico, no service) has phone dial out also. and has cable locks for equiptment around the place like a boat, quad. starts at $1000.00 rugged design as it is made for construction sites. the range is 2000 feet for the sensors. if 5 people were to buy it and protect their boats and motors as well as other things would be worth it.

I had this one www.x10.com and had it hooked up to my TVs, VCRs, computer and monitor, and my safe. about 5 years ago someone broke into my place and while prying my safe up it went off and the theif had to take off without anything. this was a low cost $100.00 system that is wireless. I just had it on all the time with item sensors. I did not have it hooked up so I had to turn off and on all the time. It was just there for the high value items that theives go after first and on all the time. the thief had obviously been casing my area as he knew when I left my house for a walk.
